Lessons from Uganda: How Cross-Cultural Experiences Can Shape Effective Leadership

As I reflect on my time in Uganda (1993-1994), I'm reminded of the profound impact it had on my approach to leadership and teamwork.

Reflections from Uganda (1993-1994) My time in Uganda was a humbling experience that taught me the importance of simplicity, resourcefulness, and genuine human connection. As a missionary, I learned to appreciate the value of:

- Getting things done with limited resources

- Building relationships based on trust and mutual respect

- Adapting to different cultural norms and ways of communicating

These experiences have influenced my approach to working with teams and leaders, highlighting the importance of:

Embracing simplicity and resourcefulness to drive innovation and efficiency, building strong relationships based on trust and respect for effective teamwork and leadership, and adapting to different cultural norms and communication styles for success in diverse and global teams.

My experiences in Uganda have been a powerful catalyst for personal and professional growth, shaping my approach to leadership and teamwork. As we navigate an increasingly interconnected world, I encourage leaders to explore the value of cross-cultural experiences in shaping effective leadership.
